If traveling from The United Kingdom or Europe for the first time, the following may be helpful.
By Air:
Orlando is now served by two International airports, Orlando Central and the new Sanford International which now carries the bulk of the charter traffic. Orlando International serves scheduled flights, like British Airways, Virgin Atlantic and American airlines flying direct from the UK. Sanford International serves charter flights from Europe, like Air Tours, First Choice and Travel City Direct. Sanford is not yet as busy as Orlando and usually has a quicker clearance through immigration and customs.
Car rental:
Car rental is essential for you to get the most out of your stay in Florida. If you book ahead, the car will be waiting for you on arrival. At Sanford, the car hire companies are just across the road from the terminal building.
At Orlando International, there is car hire available on-airport, but better value rentals are available off-airport. This means a short free bus ride to the rental depot, but you need to take all your luggage with you.
